On Saturday 8th August 2009 a number of UK Mölnlycke Health Care colleagues, friends and family took part in a grueling mountain walk/climb covering 6 peaks in Snowdonia in Wales. The purpose of the walk was to raise the profile and money for DebRA, a charity that supports EB patients and those who are caring for them.
If you would like to find out more about DebRA please visit their homepage: www.debra.org.uk
EB, Epidermolysis Bullosa - is a genetic condition where the skin breaks at the slightest touch, causing painful, open blisters and wounds. EB can mean a life of extreme pain, disability and, at its worst, it is fatal in infancy. People with severe EB are likely to contract a fatal skin cancer. DebRA provides specialist EB nursing, funds extensive medical research and provides counseling, welfare, respite and advocacy.
The walk/climb took 13 hours in total. It was an experience that will stay long in the memory of our employees. Read more about the walk in the attached press release.
Many thanks, to everyone who have donated money and time, to such a worthy cause.
